Description

Magbis Pyrinillis, or the bone-crested lesser phoenix, exitsed in great numbers in deserts and other arid regions millionss of years ago. The strange bony-like knobs and cranal studs on their skulls were used by males to settle territorial disputes, and females used them to carry their young. Their spoon-tipped bills allowed them to scoop up Slugma and other insects from the ground without being burned by acids, and their webbed, two-toed claws allowed them to paddle great distances through water. additionally, a thick, rubbery patch of skin around their necks protected from the fatal neck-wounds often inflicted by roaming packs of Archen in that time period.

However, recently scientists have discovered a new variety of the lesser phoenix that seems to have appeared somewhere in the late Cretaceous. To escape from larger predators such as Tyranitar and Archeops that existed in those time periods, the 'Magbies' evolved many unique features that helped them survive into modern times along with Magbies. In order to get more protection from predators, it developed more patches of thick rubbery skin, grew sharp, poisonous spines and ridges along it's back, and evolved longer and more agile legs with no more webbing. A bigger bill helped to capture more food in less time, and outiside-facing eyes helped to give it an almost 360 degree vision. It's cranal growths became flatter and more solid, enabling crippling headbutss to preadtors' legs and wings. And finally, it developed a longer tail and large, flame-like plumes and crests along the back of its head and the end of its tail. As it evolved further and further, later specimens of the Magmarii Pyrinillium show shorter and shorter finger-bones as the animals slowly moved away form their bird-like origins.

Woo :dummy: Finally, some realistic pokemanz~

It's Magby and Magmar, I would do Magmortar too except Magmortar is ugly and I don't really like it :P

Done in Prismacolor and Pitt Artist pens, time about 3 hrs...?

I finished this yesterday but couldn't upload it cuz my scanner program wasn't working too well ^^'

Enjoy, guys :)

Oh, and this is also sort of a tribute to :iconarvalis:, y'know, 'cuz he's the one who got me started on all this realistic pokemon stuff anyways.
